Whether its earning from Adsense or any other pay per click network, number of clicks depend on how many times your visitors see ads. They may ignore it once or twice, but they cannot ignore if it comes thrice, will be inquisitive if they see it for fourth time and will surely click if it’s fifth time they are seeing it. Well, it doesn’t also mean to rush your pages with ads that loses the essence of readability, instead think of a placement where ads appear more frequently and it doesn’t harm readability too.

For example, header ads work quite better than those in footer. Similarly ads wrapped with content, i.e. in the mid of your article or in the beginning of text right below the title works best. If your content is worth reading and is open ended where users may want to leave response, you can place ads near commenting section too so that user can see them while posting comment.
